ROSS, Isabelle Salmon, first assistant in the general superintendency of the Primary Association, is a daughter of William Weir Salmon and Margaret Hay Hunter. She was baptized when eight years of age by William Phillips, and received her education in the public schools of Salt Lake City, later specializing in physical education. She was a teacher of the primary grade in the 18th Ward Church school. Salt Lake City. She also taught in the Salt Lake City public schools and was director of physical education at the Brigham Young College at Logan, Utah, and director of physical education at the School for the Deaf and Blind at Ogden, Utah, where her work is outstanding. In pursuit of her chosen work she attended the University of Utah, took a summer course in the Hemingway Gymnasium at the Harvard University and a course in speech under Alfred Ayers in New York City. William W. Salmon and his family were prominent members of the 20th Ward, Salt Lake City and from her childhood Sister Ross was active in ward activities, especially in the Primary Association and Sunday Schools. On Sept. 29, 1897, she was married to Charles James Ross of Ogden (a member of the Deseret Sunday School board) and she became supervisor of the kindergarten department of the Weber Stake Sunday school board. She is also a member of the Weber Board of the Daughters of the Pioneers. Sister Ross served as second assistant in the general superintendency of the Primary Association from 1926 to 1930, when she was promoted to the position of first assistant superintendent.
