BEEBE, Clara Woodruff, a counselor in the general presidency and a member of the general board of the Primary Association from 1904 to 1927, was born July 23, 1868, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Wilford Woodruff and Emma Smith. She was a student of the Salt Lake City schools and of the University of Deseret. She acted as secretary of the Primary Association in the Farmers' Ward at the age of 14, and served for three years, was president of the 20th Ward Primary Association in 1895-1898, and a member of the Salt Lake Stake Primary Board until called to the general board of the Primary Association, serving as second counselor from 1905 to 1925. She was a perfect hostess and had charge of all special social events on the board. As a result of her activity 152,331 baptisms for the dead were performed by children of the Primary. She was also a member of the Salt Lake Civic Center from April 19, 1917, to 1921, serving as treasurer and a member of the board of control. On Aug. 3, 1887, she was married to Ovando C. Beebe and was the mother of eight children, namely, Vedi Clare, Woodruff Collins, Emma, George Rogers, Hester, Blanch W., Margaret and Ruth. (See Children's Friend, Vol. 24, p. 427; Vol. 26, p. 365.)
